Conductor Zach Salsburg-Frank brings a clear and engaging approach to opera, orchestral, and choral music. He works to connect music with its communities and shape performances grounded in storytelling that resonates with audiences today.
Zach has worked with ensembles and companies in the United States and Europe, assisting on productions with the Canadian Opera Company (La bohème), Seattle Opera (Tristan und Isolde), Opéra de Toulon (Don Giovanni), Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera (La bohème), and Arizona Opera (Die Zauberflöte, Don Giovanni). Additional work includes assisting Così fan tutte at Opera Saratoga and Don Pasquale at Festival Napa Valley, conducting Carmen, La traviata, and Il barbiere di Siviglia with the Chandler Opera Company, and leading the U.S. premiere of Tawnie Olson’s Sanctuary and Storm. He has also served as a cover conductor with the Oakland Symphony and Berkeley Symphony.
Zach is the Artist Services & Programs Manager for the Merola Opera Program and previously served as the Assistant Director of Academy Programs at Festival Napa Valley. He also returned to his early musical roots as the Interim Music Director of the Pacific Boychoir Academy, leading choral ensembles and shaping programming for the institution where he first trained.
He holds a Master of Music in Conducting from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Music in Voice from McGill University. He has studied with and assisted conductors Jordan de Souza, Daniela Candillari, Jim Lowe, Ryan McAdams, Kedrick Armstrong, and Joseph Young.
